‘Don’t You See Me?’ - 2019
Project type
Portraits, Horror Illustration
Date
2019
Location
England
This piece is a mixed media painting. Materials used: Acrylic paint, paper, black ink and stick painting technique.
I made this painting with intentions of experimenting with the contrast of colour in horror scenarios. This was due to the idea of finding light and beauty in the darkest parts of my life. The image consists of a woman holding her face that has melted off showing under her skin. This can be dreamed ugly and horrific but with my use of colour I wanted it to be less gory to enable the viewer to see her inner beauty still stands. The writing with ink surrounds her and colour is lost showing how she cannot let this darkness consume her even when she’s at her lowest.
